CMDA Mission Trip July 13-14, 2007

2007 mission team
The Mission Team
This was our eleventh mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico, which was a great success. We had the support of the Camarillo Christian Church, Simi Valley Presbyterian Church, the First Baptist Church of Camarillo and many other churches. These churches sent members, medicines, supplies, medical equipment, gifts, clothes, and prayers. Eye glasses were provided by the Navy Base Port Hueneme.

We held our clinic at the Calvary Chapel, Ensenada, Mexico. There were 66 mission team members including 9 physicians, 2 nurse practitioners, 2 Mexican physicians, 2 Mexican dentists, 2 Mexican optometrists, 2 pharmacists, 1 physical therapist, 5 medical assistants, 5 RNs, 1 medical student, 2 pastors, and many helpers.

Number of patients treated: Medical/Surgical 345, Dental 102, Optometry 78 - TOTAL 525. Many minor surgical procedures and injections were performed. Diabetes education and physical therapy was provided. The dental team performed extractions and fillings. Dental care is an area of health to which the poor do not have easy access. Day care for the children and 90 haircuts were also provided.

Patients were prayed for and encouraged in their faith. Counseling and followed up was provided by the members of the Calvary Chapel.

We thanked God for the many, many helpers. The trip could not have been as effective without the non-medical support team to drive the cars and vans, help the doctors with setup, interpreting, delivering messages, handing out medicines and health kits, running the pharmacy, and sharing the gospel, etc.

We were again blessed with the leadership of Dr. Ramon Vidauri and the hospitality of the Mexican Calvary Chapel congregation. The health care we provided in Ensenada was possible because of Dr. Vidauri's excellent relationship with the city's leaders, his arranging for us to be at the church, and God's opening the doors for us to go through. He and the Mexican churches created the publicity necessary for the people to be aware of our coming and the services we could provide.
