We are very pleased to have Mike McLaughlin, MDiv, regional director of the western states from CMDA as our main speaker. Mike McLaughlin, MDiv will prepare us for this year's transitions. As always the conference is led by Southern California Area Director, Mike Roberts, DDS. Workshops will address "Becoming an Effective Leader", "Urban Health Ministry - Making A Difference in Your Community", "Overseas Missions - Developing Strong Team Ministry and Church Support", “Medical Ethics” and more. Contact Dr. Mike Roberts for details. * May 18th 2008, Sunday 3 - 5 PM Southern California Ministry and Prayer Council is meeting. The council is composed of those who desire to take part in the yoke of this ministry and enjoy the uplifting sense of growth that comes from working in service of our Lord. Matt. 11: 25-29. We welcome guests, and encourage student reports. We meet at Bethany Church in Sierra Madre on Sunday afternoons, we gather to pray for the Lord's leadership on the coming year. We will be reviewing the ministry progress, the budget and preparing for the next student leadership conference in April 2008. Optional dinner at a restaurant next door follows the meeting. Map. * Early June '08 Baja medical/dental outreach, to Primo Tapia Medical and Dental Students will be serving at an orphanage, cost will be $250 per person, to cover the cost of lodging. See here for details. * June 26 - July 14, 2008 - Medical Service Mission Project, Dali, Yunnan, China. Partnering with a medical school and hospital they will set up a comprehensive medical clinic and bring medical care to under served areas. American Medical and Dental Services has been established by Joel Doughten, MD a local CMDA physician. The team is recruiting physicians, dentists, nurses, medical technologists and technicians as well as non-medical professional support personnel and students. They have particular expertise at utilizing and training students and lay support in Los Angeles. If you have a Chinese heritage and familiarity, there are particular roles that may suit your calling.
